Fact check

I would like to seek Gulf News’ attention on a series of misrepresentation of facts in the recent past. This is with regard to the report in which, the author has claimed that on June 1, in a communal clash in Uttarakhand, India, “32 people, including 12 policemen, have lost their lives” (“Time to get rid of Muslims, controversial VHP leader says”, Gulf News, June 9). This is completely false. There have been no deaths in that incident so far, people have only been injured. I believe that it is the sole responsibility of Gulf News to edit or verify facts and figures before they get printed.

Thank you for pointing out the error. It was corrected in the ‘Matter of fact’ section of the newspaper, on June 11.

Brexit repercussions

What will the condition of the gold price be, by October or December?

Gulf News Business Editor explains: It’s hard to predict that far in the future. The most you can relatively look at is upto a month and a half, but there are too many factors, including whether or not the US Federal Reserve will increase interests rates, how Brexit develops and the state of the global economy. In general, the overall picture is looking bad, which is good for gold prices. But, if things improve, gold prices could conceivably reverse.
