DUBAI Three armed men escaped with a power generator from a construction site in Naddal Hammar after overpowering the security guards.
The incident took place in broad day light last month.
Lal and Ramu, the two Indian men guarding the site said the labourers working at the site had barely left for the day when three burly Asian men stormed the under-construction villa around 4pm.
“They were carrying iron rods. Before we could react, they pinned us to the ground and threatened to kill us if we raised our voices,” said Ramu.
Lal said the men then carted away the generator, worth Dh7,000, into a black SUV and sped off.
A police report was subsequently lodged.
The building contractor said incidents of thefts and robbery around work sites were routine in Nad Al Hamar.
‘A few weeks back they stole several sheets of plywood, so I deployed guards. Who would have thought they would attack the guards for a generator?” he said.
