getting it right: Kids train under professional coaches supplied pictures

Talk about sport and football is easily the top pick in the UAE. With a huge following for the sport across the region, many kids are eager to take it up and follow their icons.

E-Sports Football Academy (EFA) is the place to go which offers a diverse football programmes to youngsters from the age group of three to 16 years with innovative techniques to nurture budding talents.

E-Sports Football Academy Director Terry Kidd said: “The Academy has a pyramid of development to ensure that all ages and abilities have the opportunity to train and play in an environment that is fun, educational and challenging to ensure each player can progress at their own speed and enjoy playing football in a fun and competitive group.”

EFA coaching is divided into different categories. They include Tots Football for the age group of three to six years; Schools Coaching for five to 11 years; Academy Coaching for five to 16 years; Elite Development Squads for eight to 16 years and Junior Football Leagues.

“All sessions are delivered by UEFA qualified registered coaches who have extensive experience as a player and coach in football at a high level.

“We have sessions throughout Dubai and Abu Dhabi where each youngster can train from once a week up to three times a week. EFA fees start from Dh600 for a 10-week course,” Kidd added.

EFA also runs an indoor 5-a-side tournament every summer that gives youngsters to put in to practice what they have leaned throughout the Academy season away from summer heat.

“We give each player the opportunity to train up to three times per week and also play competitive fixtures bi-weekly which is the fundamental tool of developing footballers.

“Each Academy player will receive a development player pack and full Adidas training kit to ensure they look and feel every part of a footballer,” Kidd explained.

The kids also gain further experience traveling abroad to play matches against competitive tournaments. “The development squads are exposed to international competition which gives the squads the experience of the next stage in their football educations. EFA have travelled to various parts of Europe and have seen the benefits of competing with Europe’s best talent,” Kidd said.

A lot of emphasis has also been given for fitness. “EFA stresses that fitness is a major part of life and not just football. All EFA programmes contain fitness and co-ordination drills that ensure that all players are not only just improving technically but also from fitness. We also provide nutrition advice and addition sessions to improve fitness to various age ranges aside of the development pyramid,” added Kidd.
