DUBAI The Daman’s ActiveLife Electric Run promises to be an electrifying night when it debuts in the UAE in November.

After the world’s brightest 5k run saw huge success in Chicago, New York, London, Sydney and Singapore, the event will take place at the Meydan in Dubai on November 6 and then move on to Abu Dhabi early 2016.

“It’s a first-of-its-kind event in this region. It combines lights, music and exercise offering people of all ages a unique experience,” said David Sanderson, race director from Fast Track Middle East.

“One of the greatest things about this event is its ability to attract people of all ages and fitness abilities. Electric runners have the chance to showcase their neon creations and become part of the show which is more than just a running event. People can walk, run or dance their way to the finish line,” he added.

Untimed race

The organisers will create seven course lands including Electro Rainforest, Rainbow Road, Candy Lane, Neffmaus Land, Colour Brick Road, The Powerhouse and Under the Sea.

“Everyone is welcome to be a part of the run. This is an untimed race so everyone can get a ticket to the event including children. It also promotes people to lead an active lifestyle,” Sanderson said.

“The event will take participants on an unforgettable journey of music and light where they will be treated to the mysteries hiding in ‘Under the Sea’ to an explosive fusion of colours on ‘Rainbow Road’,” he added.

Describing plans to make it an annual event, the race director said, “Currently, the run is confirmed to take place in two cities. With its growing popularity across the world and hopefully in the UAE ,we might look at bringing it back next year.

Initial ticket prices are Dh165 for individuals and are being sold online and across all Fitness First clubs in the UAE. “We have launched both the discounted ‘early bird’ tickets and competition to encourage UAE residents to buy their tickets soon before prices go up next week. Whether you’re signing up as an individual or with friends, this will be a night to remember,” said Sanderson.
