DUBAI On the previous two occasions when Fatih Ulusoy was in action at the Global Fighting Championship (GFC), he was easily the crowd favourite.

After having emerged triumphant in both his fights, Ulusoy is all set for another sensational display of kick boxing when he takes on Ismael Lazaar in the GFC Series 3 to be held at the Dubai Tennis Stadium on April 17.

Ulusoy knows it’s not going to be an easy affair since Lazaar took home the GFC title last year. But the fighter from Holland is up for the challenge and is confident of knocking his opponent off. “This is my third fight for GFC. I know he is a good fighter but I have trained hard for this. I expect a tough competition but I’m confident of beating him,” said Ulusoy while training at The Champion Club.

Prize money

Promoted by Golden Cage Promotion and Events, the event will feature four top ranked heavyweight kickboxers battle it out for the title and the Dh1 million prize money. The champion also gets an entry to fight the GFC Grand Prix to be held in December and a chance to win the $1 million prize money.

“That’s my focus. I know I can knock out Lazaar and then go on to become the champion of champions. I’m completely focusing on that,” Ulusoy added.

Praising the way GFC has made progress in Dubai, Ulusoy said: “For me right now it’s only GFC. Thanks to Prince Amir (organiser) who had done a great job with GFC this is a great platform for top fighters. I’m also thrilled about the fan following, especially youngsters who are showing great interest in this sport.”

Taking pride in the fact that GFC is one of the top events in Dubai, Amir said: “The fighters at the GFC are some of the best in the world. There is a huge demand for these fighters and people love watching them in action. I’m delighted they are fighting in Dubai and giving the fans here a chance to watch them closely.”
