Woman falls to death from Sharjah building

Sharjah: A 28-year-old Filipina woman died after falling from the balcony of her 10th floor apartment in Sharjah’s Abu Shagara area on Friday morning, a Sharjah Police official said.

Authorities were called to the scene after eyewitnesses saw the woman plunge to the ground.

A team from the Criminal and Investigation Department (CID) was dispatched to the building, where they pronounced her dead.

Her body was moved to Al Kuwaiti hospital for an autopsy.

The victim, identified as M.F., was reportedly having problems in her work life.

In another case, police are looking into an illegal abortion attempt by an Asian woman who was two months pregnant. She was admitted to the intensive care unit of Al Qasimi Hospital after she allegedly tried to perform an abortion on herself at her home in Sharjah.

The woman, identified as A.T.J., is 20 and unmarried.

An official at Al Qasimi Hospital said the woman was transferred from Al Kuwaiti Hospital and admitted in a critical condition. She was bleeding when she was brought to hospital, in addition to developing other serious health complications due to her attempts.

The case is under investigation.
