It’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix race day! Watch the race live on the Corniche, and if you’re a ticket holder, catch Eminem at the du Arena. If not, you can see rapper Tyga at Movida’s Yas Island outpost, or Eve and Lupe Fiasco at Skybar at du Forum.

Speaking In Stone, an exhibition of Zimbabwean sculpture, with works by Gregory Mutasa and Witness Bonjisi, at Mojo Gallery, Al Serkal Avenue, Al Quoz.

Six-week creative writing course taught by author Hayley Doyle, at Traffic Art Gallery, Al Quoz. Open to all; you must be prepared to write a short piece after each session, to discuss and share with the group the following week. Dh750 for six 90-minute sessions. Call 055-1040538.

Art, Talks and Sensations: The Island/ A Game of Life, an artistic installation with musicians and dancers performing, philosophers, architects,  geographers and local craftsmen at Manarat Al Saadiyat, 7-9pm, from 11 Nov, 10am-8pm, until January 6, 2013.

Performances celebrating the opening on Wednesday 7 November and are open to the public. Workshops will also be held for children, teens and adults around the exhibition during all four days of Abu Dhabi Art, including making monochromatic paintings using unconventional techniques.

Purplicious Thursday in support of FORBob and pancreatic cancer awareness month at Wafi Mall, 4-8pm with tombola prizes and a bake sale; Raffles Spa has a  30-minute “Tension Tonic” massage for men, Dh229; 100 per cent of the revenue goes to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. Pancreatic cancer is the fifth common cause of cancer death and has a survival rate of 3 per cent within five years.
