A new unique food destination that offers gourmet dining and confectionaries in a contemporary setting has opened in the heart of Abu Dhabi.
Delecto, located near the Corniche on Al Bateen street has brought the best of gourmet dining and speciality boutique retail, offering cakes, gifts and hampers, all under one roof in a stylish setting.
Depending on which side of the gigantic venue you enter, you will either feel like you are in confectionary heaven or an upmarket diner. We entered from the bakery entrance and immediately found ourselves in what can only be described as a sweet shop for adults.
From the chandelier to the shelves and tables, everything is covered in sweets, cakes and chocolates. No matter what your nationality or preference, there is bound to be a something in this section that will tempt you. Whether you like Arabic, Tunisian, Moroccan sweets or macarons, mouth-watering chocolates, croissants and bespoke cakes, there is certainly no shortage of options. The coco ganache, a chocolate filled with silky coco paste, is a must try even if you are not a chocolate lover as are the Turkish delights.
The freshly made bread at the bakery section is another added delight. While there are plenty of choices for cakes, if you fancy something custom made, just ask the chef and he will happily oblige with enough notice. We challenged the bakery about whether they would be able to bake a dairy-free and egg free cake/pastry, to meet vegan requirements, and with great confidence they said it would not be an issue; they just need between 24 hours to 48 hours notice, as with most of their other custom-made products.
The dining section also aims to please everyone with a wide selection that includes pizza, pasta, sushi, barbeque and a fresh juice bar.
From the tasting menu that we tried, the pizzas were thin and yummy, the sushi was fresh and delicious, and the beef was tender and divine. The drinks selection is as extensive as the food and the sweets menus. From fresh juices, smoothies to ice-teas and coffees, there is something available for every mood.
Delecto certainly spoils you for choice.
