Maria Leei Suan and Almir Mujic opened with wins in the women’s and men’s sections in the season-opening build-up ride of the Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge on Friday.

Over 400 cyclists took on the 32.5km challenge held at the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City — District One Cycling and Running Track on Friday in a build-up for the big 92km event that is scheduled to take place at the Dubai Autodrome on December 15.

Mujic finished with a time of 48.18 minutes, while Matthew Anthony finished four seconds behind in second and Cedric Domont was third with a time of 48.24 minutes. Suan won the women’s challenge in a time of 50.39 minutes, followed by Carla Leonor (50.41) and Shirley Leach (55.01).

The second build-up ride will be held on September 29 over a distance of 50km, followed by a 65km ride on October 20 and the last one will be an 85km ride on November 24 — all at the Al Qudra track.

The Spinneys Dubai 92 Junior rides are also back with the timed 2.5km, 15km and 30km rides designed for 6 to 15 year-olds being held at the Dubai Autodrome on December 14.
