Umm Al Quwain: Willows Cricket Club emerged as the champions of the Weekend Night Cricket Feast defeating Brother Gas Cricket Club by four wickets. The first edition of this unique tournament organised by the Umm Al Quwain Cricket Club to provide opportunity for teams to play night cricket during weekend was a huge success.
The final was well fought like all the matches in this cricket feast. Winning the toss, the Brother Gas openers got off to a good start through Adnan Khan (15) and Bahadur Ali (24). T. Sabreesh hit a quick 13-ball 23 through four boundaries and a six. Willows bowlers struck to destroy the middle order but Mohammad Hamza revived the innings smashing 25 runs in just 15 balls with three fours and a six, while Faheem Shafiq remained unbeaten with 24 runs from 21 deliveries. Brother Gas posted 133 in 17 overs.
Shahid Nawaz and Nabil Iqbal took three wickets each from the four overs they bowled while Owais Ali chipped in with two wickets.
Willows lost a quick wicket but Sharaz Ahmad and Ebrahim Jalal maintained the run flow. Ahmad hit four fours and a six during his 13-ball stay to smash 27 runs while Jalal faced 39 deliveries to score 23 runs. Though Willows lost a few more wickets, Nawaz sparkled with the bat too and hit an unbeaten 21 from 10 deliveries to rightly bag the man of the match award. Willows Club reached the target with two balls to spare.
