Umm Al Quwain: A whopping 501 runs were scored in a floodlit night Twenty20 cricket match between Advantage Motors and Zulekha Cricket Club in Umm Al Quwain Twenty20 Premier League.

For Umm Al Quwain Cricket Club, which recently introduced night cricket, such a tall score was a big boost. Speaking to Gulf News, Mushtaq Ahmad, the secretary and chief organiser of Umm Al Quwain tournaments, said: “Such a high scoring match that went down to the wire shows the quality and competitiveness in our night cricket tournaments. Ever since we set up floodlight facilities more teams have expressed their eagerness to play in tournaments here.”

Advantage Motors had to hold their nerves to register a five-run victory after posting 253 for 6 in 20 overs. “This match will remain memorable as it produced two centuries and became the highest score in Umm Al Quwain tournaments,” added Mushtaq.

The tournament is held under the supervision of the Emirates Cricket Board and played under the auspices of the Ajman Cricket Council and Domestic Cricket Development Committee.
