Dubai: A six-wicket spell by 15-year-old Nishant Shewakramani and Dulsco’s nail-biting two-run win were the highlights of the Ramadan cricket tournaments in the UAE last week.

Shewakramani’s six-wicket haul went in vain as Young Talent Cricket Academy suffered a narrow defeat to Colts Academy in the Under-16 Skyline Ramadan tournament at the Skyline College ground in Sharjah. Colts Academy were bowled out for 113 in 18 overs with Shewakramani leading the way with an impressive haul of six wickets for 17 runs.

YTCA showed intensity in their chase with Fahad Nawaz (37) and Karan Achutanan (27) making good contributions but were denied by the excellent team effort of Colts Academy.

In the 14th Dulsco Ramadan Cricket tournament being held at the Zabeel Park Cricket Ground, Dulsco’s thrilling two-run win against Emrill has made the battle for the quarter-final spots in the group all the more interesting.

Dulsco have played three matches, won two and lost one. Emrill and Hologram have each won one. The last team in the group Light Speed Garage has suffered defeats in both their matches. Dulsco will now have to wait for Emrill and Hologram to end their outings.

Requiring 106 for victory, Emrill were gearing up for the second victory. Dulsco bowlers bowled tightly and tied the batsmen down as Emrill fell agonisingly short of the target.

In Age Steel Ramadan T20 Cup, Multiplex and Interface will clash in the final. Multiplex defeated Alubond Tigers by a margin of 36 runs in the first semi-final. In the second semi-final, Interface outplayed One Stop tourism by 7 wickets.

Electing to bat first, Multiplex posted 155 for 7. In reply Alubond Tigers lost wickets at regular intervals. Qadeer Ahmad stood out with a fine spell of 3 for 21. Alubond were all out in 18 overs managing only 119 runs.

Interface’s emphatic win was mainly due to the 101-run partnership between Shahzad Malek (51) and Mohammad Boota (62n.o) which helped them chase down One Stop Tourism’s total of 150 for 6.

In Dubai Cricket Council’s Interface Transworld Ramadan Twenty20 tournament, Interface again put up a sterling performance. Bilal Irshad hit the highest score of the week with an unbeaten 86 to ensure Interface a total of 175 for 5 against Al Faraa, who were bowled out for 136.

UAE’s young and promising player Yodhin Punja produced a fine spell of four wickets for 29 runs as Emarati Warriors restricted Multiplex to 132 for 8. Unfortunately, his effort went in vain as Warriors were bowled out for 93 runs, with Mohammad Insan of Multiplex taking four wickets for 20.
