Sharjah: The Sharjah Summer Cup provided the stage for some sizzling pyrotechnics from Mohammad Waseem as he hammered 147 off just 67 balls in Bukhatir XI’s emphatic 163-run win over Sealine Defenders. Waseem’s stunning innings was among the fastest the tournament has seen over the years.

Waseem smashed 14 sixes and seven boundaries as he took to the Sealine bowlers. The impact of his aggressive batting can be gauged from the fact that he was involved in a first-wicket partnership of 71 runs with Khalid Shah, whose contribution was just 16.

The second wicket stand was even bigger, yielding 162 runs. Vishnu Sukumaran, who played second fiddle, remained unbeaten on 53 from 35 balls with a solitary boundary and four sixes.

When Sealine began their chase after the pasting they had received from Waseem, they lost four wickets for just 25 runs. Waseem Rana waged a lone battle scoring 37. Sealine were ultimately bowled out for a paltry 82 runs in 15.5 overs.

Rizwan CP and Mohammad Asif ran through the Sealine batting, taking four wickets each while Mohammad Halan backed them up with two wickets.

In another match, Mir Cricket Club defeated TNS Splendid by seven wickets. Though TNS Splendid posted 144 for 9, Mir Club reached the target in just 9.4 overs for the loss of just three wickets with Salman Babar’s 81 runs off 26 balls setting the tone for their chase. Babar hit three fours and ten sixes.
