Dubai: Raunak Khandelwal came up with a stellar all-round performance to help ANIB Green lift the seven-a-side 17th Al Wahda Independence Day Cup 2017 held at the Ocean Fair Sports Club ground at Dubai Investment Park (DIP) last week.

Khandelwal first picked up a couple of wickets and then scored a quick 12 in his team’s six-wicket win in the final against hosts Ocean Fair Sports Club.

Batting first, Ocean Fair were all out for 38 in 4.5 overs with Shiraz Khan topscoring with 14 runs, while Shafqat made ten runs. Zahoor picked up one wicket for just four runs as Ocean Fair rounded up with 38 runs on the board.

ANIB made the chase look easy with Imran scoring a quick-fire 14 runs along with Khandelwal’s 12. Salman was the lone successful bowler with one wicket at the cost of 12 runs as ANIB chased down the target in 3.3 overs.

Khandelwal was rightly adjudged the man of the final for his fine all-round effort, while Richie Jacob of Ocean Fair was the best batsman and Mohammad Imran of ANIB Green the man of the tournament.

Earlier in the semi-finals, ANIB Green defeated Anchor Marine by 22 runs, while Ocean Fair International got the better of ANIB Blue by six wickets.

Organised by Tariq Butt, the annual tournament was held with prizes sponsored by Deepak Arora of Al Wahda and Freddy Sidhwa of Ocean Fair International.
