Sharjah: The Grand Masters Cricket Academy (GMCA) team played like masters of the game to dominate an experienced Lanka Lions team and record an eight-wicket victory in the final of the Skyline Cup Ramadan tournament.

Lanka Lions, who had breezed into the final with a string of impressive victories, failed to deliver when it mattered most.

Asked to bat first, Lanka Lions were restricted to 125 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Except for their in-form batsman Kumaran (33) and Eranga (40), none of the other Lions batsman could get going.

GMCA’s Amal produced a fine spell of three wickets for 17 runs from his four overs.

In reply, GMCA raced to the target, with Tahir scoring an unbeaten 61 and Naeem an unconquered 37. GMCA won with 2.5 overs to spare.

Tahir was adjudged the man of the match, while Lanka Lions’ Kumaran was named the player of the tournament. The best bowler award was claimed by Rahul Bhatia of GMCA.
