"We are thrilled with the prospect of Dr Orlick sharing with us his immense knowledge and expertise in the field of sports psychology. Modern science has confirmed that we are in a real need of psychologists to develop staff performance in various fields of life," noted Dr Ahmad Sa'ad Al Sharif, secretary-general of Dubai Sports Council (DSC).

Besides his work with top-class professionals, Dr Orlick has spent considerable amount of time helping children and teenagers boost their self-confidence and create a feeling of happiness to make them able to deal with life's challenges.

He has written more than 200 essays and authored two dozen books. His advice has also found its way to the market in CD format. His more famous promotional books include Toward excellence, Skills of positive life, Cooperative sports and games.

Meanwhile, the DSC is finetuning preparations for the symposium titled ‘Scientific qualifying programme for sportspersons'.

"Unfortunately the sports sector has not focused on the psychological and mental aspects despite the fact that modern science is broadly based on the role presented by sports psychology, and we are here to address this situation by organising this symposium," Dr Sharif said.
