Dubai: When Sabine Lisicki returns to Germany this week, she will have something new to add to her cooking: spices from Dubai.

The World No 13 revealed she enjoys visiting the emirate's malls and souqs when she gets the chance.

"I went to one of the big malls and to the spice market and bought lots of spices. I really like to cook, so I had to go and get some good spices," Lisicki said after her defeat to Agnieszka Radwanska in yesterday's quarter-final.

"I do this always when I come here and enjoy it a lot."

Lisicki found her flair for cooking when injured for a chunk of 2010.

She returned in 2011 and had her best year yet, getting back into the top-100 and becoming only the second wildcard in Wimbledon history to make it to the semi-finals.

"I like the variety really of the spices," she said.

"With spices you can really change the food a lot, and here in Dubai we have spices that you cannot buy the same way in Germany. So it's nice.

Restaurants

"We go to lots of different restaurants and I am curious how you make it, so I go to the internet and take a look at the recipes and then try it out myself.

"I don't get that much time now, but once I'm home I always cook.

"Sometimes it doesn't work out well, but that's very rare."
