Dubai: A stellar line-up of stars arrive in Dubai on Wednesday ahead of the final leg of the eight stage Fina/Airweave Swimming World Cup at the Hamdan Sports Complex on November 6-7.

And in a special treat for sports fans, several of the swimmers who won medals at August’s World Championships in Kazan, Russia, will take time out of training to meet fans at an autograph session at 7pm on Wednesday November 4 at the new Go Sport store at Mall of the Emirates.

World champions, Emily Seebohm of Australia and Adam Peaty of Great Britain are among those invited to meet fans. Seebohm won three gold and one bronze medal in Kazan, and is expected to be one of the star attractions this weekend. And Peaty, who won three gold in Kazan, will be joined at the session by his teammates James Guy who took two gold and a silver in Russia, and Jaz Carlin, who won a bronze.

Fans will also be able to meet South Africa’s Cameron van der Burgh, who is currently leading the overall Swimming World Cup rankings and is on track to take his third overall title after winning previously in 2008 and 2009.

And for New Zealand fans, distance champion Lauren Boyle, who picked up two silvers in the 1500m and 800m in Kazan, is also expected to be at the autograph session, along with USA’s gold medallist in the 4x100m medley relay, Tom Shields.

The FINA/airweave Swimming World Cup Dubai kicks off on Friday 6 November. The heats are at 10am and the finals at 6pm on both days. Tickets are Dh50 per day and are available at the door, entry for children under 12 is free.

The top male and female swimmers at the end of the eight stage series win $100,000 (Dh367,000). This year’s series is also held over a 50-metre pool for the first time as the event doubles up as Olympic qualification.
