Dubai: The newly-formed Sailing and Modern Rowing Association will take part in the London Olympic Games 2012, the Pan Arab Games in Doha 2011 and the Asian Youth Games 2010 in Singapore.

This was decided at the association's first meeting chaired by Shaikh Khalid Bin Zayed Bin Saqr Al Nahyan, following its formation by the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare. The following postings were made at the first meeting: Nasser Bin Butti Bin Omair, vice-president, Abdullah Al Obaidly, general secretary, Mohammad Rashid Al Khayal, assistant general secretary. The members of the board are: Arif Ali Obaid, Ahmad Ali Al Dibbany, Ahmad Khudoom Al Sa'adi.

Shaikh Khalid thanked Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Culture, and Ebrahim Abdul Malik, general secretary of GAYSW for the trust they put on the board for the development of the sailing and rowing sport in the country and quest for excellence and competitiveness at international level.
