Dubai: Team Sea Dubai ended in seventh position in the fleet racing event and sixth overall at the end of the RC 44 Copenhagen Cup that ended in the Danish capital this week.
With winds blowing at 18 knots and gusting up to 25 knots, the boats docked out on the final of the RC44 Copenhagen Cup in conditions promising lively racing.
Team Sea Dubai grabbed a second place win, just 53 seconds behind race winners BMW Oracle. But the second race was unfortunate as a problem with the spinnaker forced them to abandon the race and added a disastrous eleven points to their score.
However, they were back with a vengeance for the next race and played it rather perfectly.
Rounding the last mark in third place behind Team Aqua and No Way Back they moved to the centre of the course picking up boat speed and crossed the line in first place.
Their luck, however, ran out in the last race when they started at the back of the pack to the left side of the course. At the windward mark they had made up ground and by the downwind leg they were on a roll, rounding the gate mark in third place and hot on the tail of Team Aqua.
It was a bittersweet day and end to the regatta for Sea Dubai with four fantastic races fought in great conditions offshore from the Royal Danish Yacht Club.
"We feel really confident after today," said Harm Muller Spreer. "We made good decisions, we had some great results and some bad luck, but I feel very positive about our racing..."
