Dubai : As many as 15 boats will line-up for the 34th America's Cup to be held in San Francisco in the summer of 2013.

The announcement on the final list of entries came from America's Cup Event Authority chairman Richard Worth late on Friday paving the way for a smooth run of the world's oldest sporting trophy.

At midnight of March 31 when the entry period closed, there were as many as 14 challengers with valid applications to challenge Defender BMW Racing for the 34th edition of the America's Cup.

Twelve of these have been validated while the remaining two teams will be checked against the qualifying requirements in the coming days.

The 15 entries from 12 countries would surpass recent editions of the Cup.
