Alex Buerger showed his superior technique when he guided his dinghy to the top spot in both the races in the Optimist class of the season-ending Comodores Regatta held at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club last week.

Buerger was followed closely by Robbie Witzmann and Mitche Lowe to complete the category winners.

In the Toppers class, there was no denying Robyn Smith, while Marcel Herrera came in second and Ollie Lamprell finished third. As many as 10 boats competed in the Adult Laser event in a close contest.

John Rose led the way over the finishing line while Marc Slatter came in second and Andy Wilkins finished third.

The Cruiser event attracted 13 entries competing for the Commodores Cup.

Club Commodore David May won the race in Shaheen with Bernhard Nordeman sailing Privateer coming in second place. There was a dead head for third place between Keith Carter in Al Shuja and Mike Cross in Catch 22.

At the evening presentation, the overall winners for the best performance throughout the season were announced.

The Commodores Cup for Adults Laser Class 2004/2005 was presented to Andy Wilkins runner up and Oskar Caneborg third.

In the Youth Class Isaac Hook was awarded the trophy with Robyn Smith second and Marcus O'Connell in third.

The Optimist top award went to Felicity Slatter, with Alex Buerger and Robbie Witzmann second and third respectively.
