Dubai: Al Shaqi won Round Two of the 22ft Dubai Traditional Dhow Sailing Race held under the auspices of the UAE Marine Sports season off the Mina Seyahi waters of Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) on Saturday.

Owned by Khalifa Muhayyir Saeed Al Mazroui and skippered by Khalaf Buti Masabeh Al Ghashaish, ‘Al Shaqi’ managed to cross the finish line ahead of ‘Al Fahad’ owned by Mohammad Jasim Ma’ayouf and led by Jasim Mohammad Ma’ayouf.

It was tough battle for third place as ‘ZiZa’a’ and ‘Toufan’ went head-to-head. Ultimately, it was ‘ZiZa’a’ who got the better of ‘Toufan’. Former winner ‘Ghazi’ took the fifth spot to complete the top-five in the second round of the five-race championship.

The top five winners were awarded their trophies by Mohammad Hareb, CEO of DIMC and Race Director Huzaim Al Qamzi along with Mahra Falaknaz, General Secretary, UAE Marine Sports Federation and Ali Abdullah Naqbi, Head, Maritime Rescue Department of Dubai Police.

Last week’s dhow sailing at DIMC was in support of the Dubai Fitness Challenge that seeks to make Dubai the most active city in the world. The third round of the 22ft Dhow Sailing Race will be held at DIMC on November 18.
