Beijing: The International Olympic Committee said yesterday it had disqualified Ukrainian weightlifter Igor Razoronov after he tested positive for drugs.
Razoronov had finished sixth in the 105kg category but is now stripped of his Games accreditation, the IOC said.
"The International Weightlifting Federation is requested to modify the results of the above-mentioned event accordingly and to consider any further action within its own competence," it said in a statement.
He becomes the sixth athlete to fail a drugs test at the Beijing Games.
The IOC said he had failed an August 18 drugs control, testing positive for nandrolone, an anabolic steroid.
Compatriot fails
Another Ukrainian, heptathlete Lyudmila Blonska, had her silver medal stripped after she tested positive for an anabolic steroid days ago.
So far, more than 4,600 tests have been performed out of the more than 5,000 tests that the IOC anticipates conducting throughout the period of the Games that end late today.
