Abu Dhabi: Shaikh Tarek Al Qasimi, an Emirati jiu-jitsu champion at regional and global level, added another feather to his cap by claiming second place in the super heavy division at the Los Angeles International Jiu-Jitsu Championship in the USA.

More than 1,000 competitors from all over the world participated at the championship.

Shaikh Tarek dedicated his achievement to General Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.

National achievement

“It is far more than an individual triumph, it is a national achievement, which mirrors both the role played by the UAE in supporting sports to attain international excellence and the considerable support by Shaikh Mohammad, to whom I’m pleased to dedicate this achievement,” Shaikh Tarek said. “This is in recognition of his limitless support for this sport. It will help raise the flag of the UAE high at international sporting events.”

Shaikh Tarek’s success earlier this season was a first place finish in the European Championships in Lisbon, Portugal, and then a second place at the International Masters in Brazil.

This latest milestone for Shaikh Tarek was a testament to his achievements in jiu-jitsu. He has demonstrated his ability and skills in numerous competitions and beaten champions who are widely acclaimed in the global arena. His success also enhances UAE’s impressive sporting record in the sport.
