Doha: The UAE snooker team were unlucky to miss out on the gold medal in the team event at the 12th Arab Games as they went down to Bahrain 3-2 in a competitive encounter that went on late into Thursday night.

Bahrain went into the lead 2-0 (69-48, 63-37), but the UAE came back strongly and tied the scores at 2-2 (67-32, 78-39) before going down again in the decider (74-36). Eisa Al Hashemi, Mohammad Al Hashemi and Mohammad Al Joker represented the UAE.

In the 9-Ball Pool Scotch Doubles, the UAE's Salah Al Deen Al Rimawi and Hani Al Houri lost the bronze medal to Qatar's Bashar Hussain and Mohammad Al Binali 9-7.

The UAE ended their campaign in the cue sport competitions with one silver and one bronze medal.

Meanwhile, the UAE men's and women's chess teams finished their participation in the Games with a single bronze medal by GM Salem Abdul Rahman in the individual Dynamic Chess competition.

The men's team finished seventh out of 13 teams with nine points from as many matches in the team event after three wins, three ties and three defeats. Abdul Rahman, Faisal Abdulla, Ebrahim Khoury, No'man Omar and Jasem Al Howar represented the UAE.

In the women's team event, the UAE again finished seventh with four points from seven matches, while Algeria won the gold with the full 14 points, followed by Jordan and Qatar with the silver and bronze medals respectively. The UAE was represented by Ari Al Harmoodi, Aliah Ali, Jameela Juma, Kholood Al Zarouni and Amna Salem.

The UAE missed out on a medal in the show jumping, where Qatar's Ali Al Rumaihi won gold.
