Dubai: Ten champions were crowned across five age-group categories in the Sun and Sand Sports Junior Triathlon at Shaikh Hamdan Beach Club on Saturday.

Oliver Newton and Imogen Michael won respective honours for boys and girls aged 12-years-old and over.

Liam Busteed and Brooke Hando won the category for 10 to 11-year-olds and Tom Praston and Emily Biedenkoph won the division for eight to nine-year-olds.

Meanwhile, Alex Burel and Lucy Lomax won the six to seven-year-olds’ category and Kilian Marnane and Jenna Shackleton won the four to five-year-olds’ division.

Over 1000 spectators turned out to see more than 250 juniors take part in the swim, run and cycle challenge.

Four to five-year-olds had to swim 25 metres, ride 300 metres and run 200 metres, while the 12-year-olds had to undertake a 200-metre swim, 1,600-metre ride and 800-metre run.
