Dubai: The Pakistan Day International bridge tournament will be held from March 21-23 at the Marquee Hall, Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi.

A press release from the organisers, Mind Sports Association (MSAP), says 10 overseas teams, including two from the UK and two from India have confirmed their participation, while 30 local teams are expected to join the fray. The tournament will witness competion in pairs besides a teams event.

Khurshid Hadi, the Chairman of MSAP and Nawab Yousuf Talpur, President of Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF), said the tournament is part of their plan to promote mind sports such as bridge, chess and scrabble in the country.

This is the first international bridge event being held in Pakistan since 1997 and would provide local players the long-awaited opportunity to test their game against the leading international bridge players.

The tournament will also support the Sindh government’s ongoing initiative to highlight the cultural potential of the province.

The Karachi Literature Festival and Sindh Cultural Festival too have generated great public interest.
