Sood takes spoils in Adol 9-ball challenge
Sponsored by Julphar Pharmaceutical Industries' Adol with support from RAK Civil Aviation, the main draw of the tournament featured 64 of the best 9-ball pool players from all across the UAE
Dubai: Indian Vivek Sood clinched the Adol 9-ball Ramadan Challenge that concluded earlier this week in Ras Al Khaimah.
The New Delhi-born player was at his best in the final with a clinical 11-7 win over Rotchild Monteiro from the Philippines.
Sponsored by Julphar Pharmaceutical Industries' Adol with support from RAK Civil Aviation, the main draw of the tournament featured 64 of the best 9-ball pool players from all across the UAE.
After the qualifying and preliminary rounds held at Champion Billiards, the action for the top-16 moved across to the Atrium situated at the Al Hamra Mall.
Thrilling response
The open tournament for UAE residents attracted players from Singapore, Lebanon, India, Syria, UAE, Pakistan and Morocco.
"We are thrilled with the response not just from the players, but from our sponsors, especially Amer Al Sharif, marketing director at Julphar," Oswald Behram, Chief Cue Officer at organisers Interpool, said.
Boosted by the success of the competition, there are plans to organise an international 9-ball event in November followed by two more tournaments early next year.
Dr Ayman Sahli, CEO of Julphar, handed over the winners' trophies.
