Sharjah Ladies Club shine during AUS Sports Festival Tournament
The National Team in Sharjah Ladies Club took first place in both basketball and volleyball at the American University of Sharjah's women's Sports Festival Tournament 2008.
Dubai: The National Team in Sharjah Ladies Club took first place in both basketball and volleyball at the American University of Sharjah's women's Sports Festival Tournament 2008.
There was tough competition between all the teams but the Sharjah Ladies Club was able to draw everyone's attention by winning the basketball and volleyball tournaments.
The basketball team played against the American University of Sharjah and were able to won before the team went on to take victory against the American University of Dubai.
Victories
Meanwhile in the volleyball tournament Sharjah Ladies Club also won the American University of Sharjah's women's Sports Festival Tournament 2008 championship.
The National Team initially played against American University of Sharjah's volleyball team.
The Ladies club side were able to win and the game finished 2-0.
Like the basketball team, they then faced the American University of Dubai Volleyball teams and they won again by the same 2-0 scoreline.
Nada Askar, manager of Women Sports at the Sharjah Ladies Club, praised the festival organisers.
The manager said: "I would like to thank American University of Sharjah for their continued support to women's sports and hosting it.
"I would like also to thank all the players in The National Team in Sharjah Ladies Club for Basketball and Volleyball for their amazing performance in both games although the competition was very strong but were able to win the championship.
"The main objectives of these games are to familiarise gamers with the other teams and develop their skills in playing."
