Dubai: The second edition of the Dubai Fitness Championships for UAE girls will get under way from Sunday at various venues across Dubai.

Organisers are expecting more than 100 participants to take part in this event that is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Majid Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman, Dubai Culture and Arts Authority.

The winner of the competition stands to win a designer watch along with a cash prize of Dh100,000 while the second and third place finishers will receive Dh50,000 and Dh40,000 respectively.

Those coming in 12th to 15th will each receive Dh4,000. Each participant will have to pay an entry fee of Dh80 every time she enters the contest, while students will get an entry fee rebate and will be allowed to enter for Dh20 each time.

The competition will take place behind closed doors at various venues in Dubai including Zabeel Ladies Club in Zabeel, Dubai Ladies Club in Jumeirah and the Higher College of Technology in Al Ghusais.

The idea behind this unique competition is to get women and girls involved in physical fitness that will ultimately aim towards a healthy society, as per the vision of Shaikh Majid.

With nearly Dh500,000 on offer for all winners, the finals of this competition have been scheduled for November 24.
