Abu Dhabi: Six-year-old Sandip Ram will take on second seed Mubarak Mohsin in the under-15 semifinal of the Sheraton Abu Dhabi Squash Open championship.

Ram posted a hard-fought 3-2 win over Mohammad Haitham while Mohsin cruised past Omar Braiki 3-0 in the quarterfinals. Ram, who had earlier defeated Steve Nahed 3-0, won the first set 15-11 but Haitham leveled scores with a 15-13 win in the second set.

The young challenger again went 2-1 up when he took the third set 15-8 but Haitham fought back in the fourth, winning 15-11.

However, in the decider, the Dubai-based Ram came through at 15-8 to make it to the last four. Joining Ram and Mohsin in the semifinals are top seed Ahmad Ali and Mahmoud Moaz. Ali registered a 3-0 win over Kshitij while Moaz defeated Mustafa Sohdy 3-0.

The championship kicked off on Monday with teenager Amir Khan winning his Division One match against Shaun Weddick.
