Dubai: The Dubai Filipino Bowling Club (DFBC) successfully defended their overall championship title at the 13th GCC All-Filipino Bowling Tour held in Doha last week.

Leading the Dubai charge was Uella Marcial, as the team picked up a total of five gold medals in the team, trios, doubles and masters events along with another gold clinched by their male counterparts in the men's trios event.

This was Marcial's fourth Masters Champion title, adding to her earlier triumphs in 2005, 2006 and 2007, making her the only four-time winner of the highest individual title in the 13-year history of this tournament.

Leading the onslaught was the formidable DFBC ladies' team, led by Masters Champion Marcial, all events and singles champion Clarisse Corpuz, two-time singles champion Elsie Marcial, team champion members Liza Lugto, Tess Victoria and newcomer Tina Tabon.

The men's team, who clinched the trios event gold, had in their line-up former Masters Champion Ricky Reyes and previous team champion members Philip Raymundo, Jordan Evan, Ed Sakkam, Danny Torres and JR Yjares.

Medal winners

The DFBC total of 35 points from five gold medals and two silvers was enough to hand them the overall crown for a second year in a row, closely followed by hosts Qatar with 34 points and Kuwait with 22 points settled for third place. The four-day event was hosted by the Filipino Bowlers Federation of Qatar under the helm of Oliver Fabros at the Qatar Bowling Centre.

Next year's event will be hosted by the Sharjah Filipino Bowling Club.
