Usain Bolt was the charismatic and iconic, if unofficial, figurehead of a hugely successful Olympic Games in London last year. His antics, even before races, when his rivals sported steely gazes of concentration, oozed entertainment. Point a camera at the lanky Jamaican and he would always play up to it. At one stage he even borrowed a photographer’s equipment and started shooting his own snaps. This was a genuine character lapping up the attention on the biggest sporting stage.

But where he can go from there? Bolt has suffered lapses before, having been disqualified from the 100m final at the last World Championships and finishing second to Yohan Blake in both the 100m and 200m in the Jamaican trials for London 2012. So whether or not he will be fully motivated for the 2013 World Athletics Championships in Moscow in August remains to be seen. Bolt makes for must-see TV so let’s hope he puts on a show.
