Olympic hockey stars from India to play Dubai event

Dubai: Local promoter Eusebio Coelho has urged hockey fans in the city not to miss this weekend's Seiko Men's Invitational at Dubal after it was announced some of India's biggest stars are lining up for the event.
Former Olympians Dhanraj Pillai and Viren Rasquinha are some of the many high-profile names representing Mumbai's Friends United Sports Club at the event, which has attracted 10 teams in all, including Seeb Club from Oman.
The Al Futtaim Watches and Jewellery-sponsored tournament is in its 11th year and local teams will also take to the field, including Axiom, Lacnor, Dubai Republicans, Dubal, Pak-Ravi, Indian Expatriates, Emirates and hosts Lusitanians.
The teams have been divided into two groups and the tournament will be played on a round-robin league basis following which the top two teams from each group will make it to the semifinals.
"This tournament always generates a large amount of interest and the games are of a high quality," said Lusitanians chairman, Coelho.
"This year we have some really high-profile players coming for the tournament in the form of Dhanraj and Viren who will be playing for Friends United who are doing very well in the Senior Division in Mumbai.
"So, we're looking forward to a lot of entertainment in the form of some good games with a lot of action."
