Dubai The giant shuttlecock mascots for the BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals flew in to serve up some early morning fun for the children at the Indian High School on Sunday. The children have been asked to take part in a competition to name the mascot and win a meeting with a badminton star during the event, to be held at the Hamdan Sports Complex from December 17-21.
The mascots were guests of honour at the school assembly, before the children had a chance to try out badminton as part of the BWF ‘Shuttle Time’ grassroots badminton initiative.
The BWF Destination Dubai World Superseries Finals is open to only the top eight finishers in the BWF Destination Dubai Superseries Rankings. The event will see competition in the singles, doubles and mixed doubles categories, and is one of the most prestigious titles on the badminton tour. To qualify for Dubai, the players are required to amass points from a total of 12 MetLife BWF World Superseries tournaments, which are held around the world throughout the year.
