Dubai: More than 800 runners are expected to line up at the start of the second Dh1 million Nad Al Sheba (NAS) Sports Festival’s 10-km race on Friday at 10pm.

Record numbers have forced organisers to open six categories for this year’s edition of the race from the Falcon Centre to the Sports Complex.

There are four professional categories for Emirati and expatriate men and women, and two more for amateurs and children.

The 10-km run is part of the NAS Sports Festival, a six-event Ramadan tournament held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council.

Futsal, volleyball, paddle tennis, squash, running and cycling competitions will run from June 29 to July 19, involving over 3,000 participants. The combined prize purse for the event is Dh6 million.
