Dubai: Matheus Tavares slammed in a hat-trick, while Tiago Ignatiuk and Badr Ebrahim scored a brace apiece to help Fohood Jumeirah to a 7-2 win over Al Markaz in the third place play-off in the futsal competition of the Nad Al Sheba 2014 Sports Tournament late on Saturday.

Ebrahim opened the scoring for Fohood Jumeirah, only to see Moroccan international Karim Badi score a brace to give Al Markaz a 2-1 lead at the end of the first half.

The start of the second half witnessed a fantastic display of futsal, with 24-year-old Brazilian Tavares and Ignatiuk scoring three goals within a minute to put Fohood Jumeirah back in front.

Ebrahim then scored his second in the 36th minute to make it 5-2 and Tavares completed his hat-trick a minute later. Ignatiuk rounded off the scoring with a minute remaining.

Meanwhile, the fight for third place in the volleyball competition ended in favour of Al Fursan as their opponents could not field the required number players after Kuwaiti star Abdul Rahman Otaibi was stretchered off with an injury.

Bin Subaiah 10 had done well to win the opening set 25-21. But, with the teams tied 4-4 in the second, Otaibi got injured and had to be taken off. With a few other players also on the injury list, Bin Subaiah 10 were unable to have the mandatory six on the court and officials handed Al Fursan a 3-0 victory.
