Medals galore for UAE schools

The International Schools of Choueifat in Egypt (ISC-Cairo and ISC- 6th October City) hosted the seventh annual SABIS regional tournament, which attracted over 750 competitors from 23 schools in 11 countries.

Dubai: The International Schools of Choueifat in Egypt (ISC-Cairo and ISC- 6th October City) hosted the seventh annual SABIS regional tournament, which attracted over 750 competitors from 23 schools in 11 countries.

The UAE schools acquitted themselves extremely well in the event, picking up 13 medals combined in team as well as individual events.

Egyptian host schools are members of the world-wide SABIS school network, which has now developed into an international network of 50 schools in the Middle East, Asia, Pakistan, Africa, Europe and North America, with an approximate present enrollment record exceeding 40,000 students from a humble beginning.

The tournament's opening ceremony was a grand occasion where all the teams marched on to the field accompanied by the music of the Police Academy Orchestra.

After the welcome note by the Director of ISC - Cairo, Dr Micheal Giddings, Dr. Zahi Hawwas, Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, urged the young competitors to follow the dreams in their hearts and work hard to achieve their goals.

Under 16 Girls' 100 m Sprint: Second Place-Moshera ElZawahy (ISC-Sharjah)

Under 16 Girls' 400 m Sprint: Second Place-Dana Abdul Latif (ISC-Sharjah)

Under 16 Girls' 4x100 m Sprint Relay: Second Place-(ISC-Sharjah, DXB and AD)

Under 16 Boys' 100 m Sprint: Second Place-Nimath Ibrahim (ISC-Dubai) and Third Place-Abbas Sabir Ali (ISC-Ruwais)

Under 16 Boys' Long Jump: Third Place-Kobina Menash (ISC-Al Ain)

Under 16 Boys' 4x100 m Relay: First Place-(ISC-DXB and Ruwais)

Under 12 Girls' 25 m Breaststroke: Third Place-Hui Yoon Shin (ISC-Dubai)

Under 16 Girls' 50 m Free Style: First Place-Jung Park (ISC-Abu Dhabi)

Under 16 Girls' 25 m Breaststroke: First Place-Jung Park (ISC-Abu Dhabi)

Girls' 4x25 m Relay: Second Place-(ISC-Abu Dhabi and Dubai)

Under 16 Boys' 25 m Backstroke: Second Place-Qamzi Dhieab (ISC-Abu Dhabi)

Under 16 Boys' 25 m Breaststroke: Third Place-Ernest Adegate (ISC-Al Ain) Boys' Basketball: Third Place (ISC-Sharjah).
