Dubai: The Malaysia-based Management and Science University (MSU) will use the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) as a nodal point offering course material for its Masters programme.

The first batch of around 30 students will travel to Dubai from Kuala Lumpur in June and utilise the DSC as a meeting point for their key projects as part of their Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programme.

The students are tentatively scheduled to be in Dubai from June 16 to 20 and will get all the assistance needed to obtain information in various sectors including aviation, hospitality, real estate and sports.

The MBA degree at MSU spans 12 months. The first ten months are reserved for classwork, with students using the final two months for their projects.

The comparative study will see students meet up with senior officials from Emirates airline, Emaar, Jumeirah Hospitality Group and Dubai Desert Classic golf organisers.

“Being a regular visitor to Dubai I have witnessed the tremendous development and progress made by Dubai in various sectors. I see something magical about this country and though it is vast it is even more developed than Malaysia. So we feel the need to study the secret behind this,” Professor Dato Dr Asbi Bin Ali, Vice-President, Research and International Affairs, and Dean, School of Graduates Studies, MSU, told Gulf News after signing a Memorundum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr Ahmad Al Sharif, General-Secretary, DSC.

“Dubai gets a lot of international attention due to the top sporting events we host here. And now to have a university recognise this is truly in keeping with the overall vision of this country,” Dr Al Sharif said.
