Abu Dhabi: The Jimmy George Memorial Volleyball Tournament, organised by the Abu Dhabi Kerala Social Centre and sponsored by UAE Exchange Centre, will get underway from December 6-10 at the KSC premises. In all, six teams are participating in the tournament and they are NMC Hospital, LLH Hospital, Dubai Duty Free, Vision Safety, Dubai, ADNOC and NDC.
Team managers have confirmed that several national and international players from different countries represent their teams, which gives the spectators an excellent opportunity to witness several international players in action. Players from India, the UAE, GCC countries, the US, Iran, Egypt and Lebanon are expected to take part.
The winner will walk away with UAE Exchange Rolling Trophy and a cash award of Dh20,000 while the runner up will receive the Ayoob Master Memorial Trophy plus Dh15,000.
Apart from the winner and runner-up trophies awards, other individual trophies for outstanding performance will also be awarded and they are Best Player of the tournament, Best Offender, Best Blocker, Best Setter, Best Libro, Best Promising player.
Six teams are divided into two pools and will be played on a league-cum-knock out basis.
Two matches are scheduled for each day, including the semi finals. The first one will be at 8pm and the second one at 10pm.
