Abu Dhabi: Adel Maqbool defeated Aamir Khan 11-7, 14-12, 3-11, 11-5 to clinch the Super division title in the 2nd ISC-UNB UAE Open Squash Championship at the Indian Social and Cultural Centre.

Over 150 entries were received from all over the UAE for the championship which was organised in 5 divisions — Super Division, Division 1, Division 2, Division 3 and Ladies Division. Over 200 matches were played over the two week long championship in the Main Draw and the Plate Division.

The Division 1 finals also saw some amazing contests with brothers Adham Yasser and Ammar Yasser battling against each other. Although there was no love lost on the court, it was a tightly contested match with every point being fought with passion and zeal. In the end, Ammar defeated Adham 8-11, 11-9, 11-7, 11-7 to claim the top honours.

This tournament also saw a very encouraging participation from the Ladies and Girls across UAE. The final was played between 14-year-old sensation Jaida Hammam and an Indian Junior national champion player Pankhuri Malhotra, who went got the better of the former with a 11-5, 12-10, 9-11, 11-8 win.

In the Division 2 final, the FERTIL team players and friends Tawfiq Jalil and Assad Shagir played a very entertaining match. Jalil managed to prevail over Shagir 11-6, 6-11, 11-5, 11-4.

Twelve-year-old Adham Wassimy from Dubai got the better of Ahmad Behairy. Ahmad used his experience to beat the talented boy 14-12, 8-11, 11-5, 11-5 to win the Division 3 title.

In the Plate category, the winners were Shauqui Salman for Division 3, Katie Golding for Ladies Division, Wim Strydom for Division 2 and Ian Southam for Division 1.
