Handball youths set to clash with South Korea
The UAE national youth under 20 handball team meet South Korea today in the Asian youth under 20 championships through which teams qualify for the youth World Cup under 20 finals to be held in Egypt in 2009.
Dubai: The UAE national youth under 20 handball team meet South Korea today in the Asian youth under 20 championships through which teams qualify for the youth World Cup under 20 finals to be held in Egypt in 2009.
The Asian championship will be held in the Jordanian capital Amman from July 24 to August 5. UAE play in group A including Japan, Iraq, in addition to Korea.
The UAE under 20 youth team is the future of the senior national team as the Handball Association prepares the young players, through participating in continental and regional tournaments, to become senior team players in the near future.
The youth team held a 12 day training camp in Cairo before leaving for Jordan. They played six warm-up matches, won four against Libya youth, Hilioplis club, Police club and Military Production and lost two games to Egypt youth under 20 and under 18.
The UAE Handball Association board member, Naser Al Hammady, headed the delegation to Jordan with coach Nicolvic, Mohammad Darwish assistant coach and players: Khalifa Khalil, Ebrahim Mohammad, Ahmad Esmail, Marwan Darwish, Masoud Khalifa, Abdullah Ganem, Gareeb Mohammad, Hasan Mohammad, Raid Saeed, Ebrahim Saeed, Ahmad Mohammad, Eisa Mohammad, Khamis Mohammad, Abdul Hamid Mohammad and Abdullah Eisa.
