Dubai: The Fazza duo of Arif Al Zafein and Nader Bin Hindi won the Dubai Duty Free Speed Cat Run, while the local team of Alfredo Amato and Marco Pennesi in their Cantiere Postiglione boat bagged pole position for the Napoli Grand Prix in Naples, Italy, on Saturday.

Competing in the third round of the UIM Skydive Dubai XCat World Series, Dubai-based Fazza’s speed was too much for their opposition in the knockout Speed Cat Run in tricky conditions.

Fazza first beat Raheeb with Abdul Latif Al Omani and Jasem Sa’ad on board, before getting the better of T-Bone Station’s Luca Fendi and Giovanni Carpitella in the next round.

In the final, pitted against the European duo of Joakim Kumlin and Gary Ballough in Mouawad, Al Zafein and Bin Hindi were uncatchable as they ended their disappointment of missing out on pole position earlier in the evening.

Taking the honours was local team Cantiere Postiglione, who will attempt to deny overall leaders Fazza a third straight win in the series this season.

Cantiere Postiglione recorded the fastest lap of 2min 38.10sec to take the Emaar Pole Position ahaead of Fazza’s time of 2:38.90, leaving a second pairing from Dubai, Sultan Al Daheri and Jay Price, in third with a lap of 2:40.35 before flipping their boat on the fourth lap.

Amato said: “Thirty minutes before the race I took my rib out to feel what my sea told me. I listened to it and now we got pole position. I had a dream three or four years ago about beating Victory and I defeated them in Class One. Then, for the last week, I have been dreaming about being first in Napoli and here we are.

“It will be tough but I hope I have another dream tonight.”
