Dubai: As the UAE prepares to host the Bowling Mondial for Men in 2014 and Bowling Mondial for Women in 2015, the Emirates Bowling Federation (EBF) and Borouge, a leading provider of innovative, value creating plastics solutions, signed a partnership agreement making Borouge the official sponsor of the UAE national bowling teams.
The signing ceremony took place at Khalifa International Bowling Centre in Abu Dhabi in the presence of Mohammad Khalifa Al Qubaisi, Member, Abu Dhabi Sports Council and EBF President and former world bowling champion, Rashid Saud Al Shamsi, Chairman, Borouge Marketing and Sales, Abdul Aziz Al Hajri, CEO, Dhabi Polymers Company (Borouge), and Salah Saleh Al Jaeedi, Secretary General, EBF.
Addressing the media after signing the partnership agreement, Al Qubaisi pointed out that Borouge’s decision to become the official partner for the EBF was inspired by its determination to develop bowling in the UAE.
As part of that commitment, Borouge will support UAE bowling, the national teams and their development to help them secure high results and win medals at international events.
Al Jaeedi noted that Abu Dhabi Sports Council is working on boosting the capabilities and the skills of the national team for the Bowling Mondial for Men next year.
The council has devised a clear strategy to prepare the national team, driven by the government support as well as the supervision of the General Authority of Youth and Sports Welfare.
“The sponsorship of bowling by a company like Borouge will go a long way in supporting the plans of EBF to develop this game and bring it on par with international standards,” Al Jaeedi said.
The agreement’s duration is for three years, beginning in 2013 and ending in 2016.
Borouge was established in 1998 as a joint venture between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company and Austria based Borealis, a leading provider of chemical and innovative plastics solutions.
