Dubai: The UAE will be hosting the General Assembly of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) in Dubai in June next year.

The decision was arrived at the three-day general assembly in Tokyo, which concluded yesterday. This is the first time the FIVB General Assembly will be held in the Middle East and West Asia after all the 219 participating countries voted unanimously in favour of Dubai.

The UAE delegation to Japan was chaired by Mohammad Abdul Karim Jalfar, President of the UAE VA, and his deputy Ganem Mubarak Al Hajiry.

Jalfar expressed happiness with the trust reposed by the FIVB. "We are pleased to host the international volleyball family in our country. It's a great pleasure for the UAE volleyball to host the members of the FIVB. The general assembly in Dubai will discuss the future of volleyball and various ways to promote it as the most popular sport in the World," said Jalfar in a press release from Japan.
