Dubai: The organisers of the FAI Mondial Dubai 2012 World Parachuting Championships have launched its international and local promotional campaign to host this prestigious competition at the end of the year in Dubai.
The higher organizing committee of the competition met recently and decided to launch the international promotional campaign in London so as to coincide with the Olympic Games starting there at the end of this month.
The local promotional campaign will take off at strategic shopping malls in the UAE and neighbouring Gulf countries.
It may be recalled that the FAI Mondial Dubai 2012 World Parachuting Championships will be one of the most prestigious events being organized in the UAE to coincide with the UAE National Day celebrations this year. The event will be held at the SkyDive Dubai location off Mina Seyahi from November 28-December 9.
With organizers putting up prizes worth more than Dhs 1 million in various categories there will be six world championships, 29 world champions, seven parachuting and skydiving competitive disciplines along with one test and demonstration event each during the course of the 13-day event.
The FAI Mondial Dubai 2012 World Parachuting Championships is being held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council and Chairman of Dubai Sports Council and under the direct support of Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also the chairman of the championship.
“The promotional campaign that we have launched is aimed at promoting Mondial 2012 Dubai as the biggest-ever event in air sports this year. Dubai has a reputation of hosting some of the biggest events in the world and we will not stop short of our objective of hosting the best-ever competition,” said Yousuf Al Hammadi, Director, FAI Mondial Dubai 2012.
The FAI is the Federation Aeronautique Internationale — The World Air Sports Federation that was founded in 1905.
The promotional campaign launched in London is being done to coincide with the hosting of the London Olympic Games. The promotional campaign is expected to attract the attention of the entire world visiting the UK during this period. The campaign covers different areas and sites including main roads, buses, taxis and shopping malls.
Locally, the promotional campaign includes the organization of recreational and awareness activities within the malls in Dubai like the Dubai Mall, Deira City Centre, Mirdif City Centre and Mall of The Emirates. The campaign has already started from the Dubai Mall by installating a stand that contains flyers, displayed screen, printing items and gifts for visitors.
Organisers have targeted at least 1,000 competitors from more than 55 countries to participate at the FAI Mondial Dubai 2012 World Parachuting Championships this year.
