Dubai: Fazza consolidated their position at the top of the overall standings while fellow Dubai-mates Victory Team continued to keep the pressure on second-placed Mouawad at the end of the fourth round of the 2013 UIM XCAT World Series held over the weekend in Stresa, Italy.

Fazza has maintained its position at the top of the overall standings with 1130 points, thanks to their superb second place after starting from the back of the pack in the 13-boat race on Lake Maggiore, north of Milan, on Sunday.

The first-time combination of former F1 champion Jay Price and Rashid Al Tayer in their Skydive Dubai boat had a dominating start to end lead to win the Italian Grand Prix, the fourth round of this eight-race series that has moved for the very first time on international waters. With Arif Al Zafein and Mohammad Al Marri leading Fazza into second place, the Dubai dominance in Stresa was complete after Victory Team, with Salim Ali Al Adidi and Talib Al Sayed at the helm, took third place for a clean sweep of the podium.

The Consul Brokers’ duo of Alfredo Amato and Marco Pennesi rose for an indifferent season so far to help themselves to fourth place and collect 169 points, while the Swiss-American combination of Omar Danial and Gary Ballough continued clinging on to second place overall behind Fazza with fifth place in Stresa for an overall tally of 798 points.

While Fazza look solid at the top with 1130 points, it is Victory Team that is breathing down the neck of second-placed Mouawad with 750 points as the XCAT set-up now heads further south of Lake Magiorre to Arona for the fifth round of the series scheduled to be held on September 6-8.

After Arona, the boats are scheduled to make the long trip to China for the Ningbo Binhai Grand Prix on November 8-10 before heading back to home waters in Fujairah for the inaugural edition of the XCAT World Cup (December 1-3) followed by the season finale at the Dubai International Marine Club (DIMC) on December 12-14.
