Dubai: The inaugural World Overseas Filipino Bowling Tour (WOFBT) being held in Dubai from May 1-4 will see Filipinos from around the world showcase their skills in the sport.

Taking place at the Dubai International Bowling Centre, Mamzar from Thursday, the tournament welcomes over 100 delegates from Filipino clubs based in South East Asia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Oman and the UAE.

The World Tour was established as the natural progression from long-running regional tournaments such as the GCC All-Filipino Bowling Tour, now in its 17th year, and the Southeast Asian Overseas Filipino Bowlers Invitational Tournament, which has been staged annually for the past 28 years.

The biennial WOFBT aims to bring together Philippine keglers from across the globe to elevate the sport of bowling and foster goodwill, camaraderie, and sportsmanship among Filipino expatriates.

Multiple events during the WOFBT will see titles awarded in the Singles, Team and Masters categories. The club winning the most points will take home the overall championship and the perpetual trophy.

The Dubai Filipino Bowling Club is hosting the inaugural event, while various clubs from Asia, Europe and the Americas have expressed their interest in participating and hosting the next edition of the event in 2016.
