Dubai: Dubai has won the Silver Award of the 7th International Sports Event Management (ISEM) Awards for Sport City category during a special ceremony in London.

The ISEM Awards are the industry’s flagship event which honours sport event management industry leaders for their outstanding performance in the organisation of major sports events.

Dubai came in second place after London at the 7th ISEM Awards for the Sport City category followed by Auckland. Dubai was selected for the Silver Award from a list of nominations including top cities such as Dusseldorf, Germany; Sydney, Australia; Manchester and London, UK and Istanbul, Turkey.

The achievement further solidifies Dubai’s status as a cosmopolitan city capable of hosting the biggest global sports events as per the best internationally-recognised standards.

On this occasion, Deputy Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council Matar Al Tayer dedicated this achievement to UAE President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum UAE Vice-President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai and to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Sports Council.

Al Tayer praised the continuous support of the UAE leadership and its vision to develop the sports sector through excellence, innovation and teamwork. Dubai Sports Council’s dossier included strategies adopted by the emirate to successfully host major international sporting events with superb organisation.
